I have not had a chance to see Allen play but will try. I know he is more of a combo than true point. I also know he is a pretty good player. Possible high major kid but you have 2 of those already in this class so why not add a third.
Kenny cannot help recruit. It is seen as a minor violation. He can certainly bump into a recruit but he can't intend to contact and recruit them.

Is the fact that Kenny is serving in an unofficial capacity with the team right now, or the fact he played for the program the reason it would be a minor violation? I swear I have heard UNC having Jordan calling a recruit to "seal the deal" and get him to sign.

Get the best available guard. I'd love to see a lockdown defender. But, whatever Fran thinks would add to his weapons.

Section 2 wrote:Fran was quoted as saying Burdine can play 1, 2, and 3. If you look at the roster, you have: C-Rossiter, Walters PF-Basabe, Martens, Preistly SF-Anosike, Wignot, (Burdine) SG-Jackson, Downey, Griffin, (Burdine) PG-Breeden,(Burdine) And the following year you have Poole coming in as a SG. I'd look for 2 PG's before any SG's. Anosike probably will never start at SF for this team but everybody keeps putting him there. I don't think you can have a three at this level whose main weakness in his game is shooting outside of 10 ft and FT's. Perhaps TM could shed some light on this but I've heard Basabe may have more of a SF game than OD does ..right now anyway. Also, Poole is quoted in his interview as saying he's going to be the gunner. He may or may not start but he'll be the big sniper with size off the bench which is great in itself. Fran needs an athletic stud 2G with size and he's seems to be trying to get one in either this class or next. When you're a mid major you have to be flexible and get the best available cause you never know if they'll go "up." Go after best PG or stud combo 2G with size, ..or both. Plenty of teams have to play without a true PG and we may never find one as true as Ronald again.

Alumni cannot call a potential recruit on behalf of university unless they have a previous relatinship (athletes). Now can they bump into them at a game, like Jordan did with Harrison Barnes, yes.

Calvin Newell update. Doesn't sound like we're really in it. Based on what I have heard and previously posted, we were never really looking to be in it.

Just wanted to relay something for perspective. There was a story the other day on Scout about Majok Majok and how he is getting high major interest from some good teams. Mel kicked his butt 2, once during the summer and once this season. Mel did not want to wait.

We couldn't be happier that he didn't want to wait and are all really looking forward to seeing play for our Saints for the next 4 years!!!(I think I can speak for everyone on this one...)

But is Mel's name so nice that you've gotta say it twice?

I'm hearing that the interest which Siena is showing in Bryon Allen is mutual. This information is more reliable than my earlier post about tonight's game.

Good point guards are good decision makers. This kid verballed Hartford without seeing the campus. Nothing like making the biggest decision of your life without having any information.

It's simple: more tattoo parlors in Hartford than in Loudonville.

To my knowledge, there were no PG recruits last night.
At this point, visits are limited by recruits' academic and basketball schedules. Next week, most schools will be on break, which opens up additional possibilities, but we have no home games until the 28th.
I understand a visitor is expected next week. If he commits and joins Melsahn and Trenity, Fran and staff will have recruited a class that is, on paper, more highly regarded than the Class of 2010, which most of us have agreed is the best class ever. That is not to say that the Class of 2014 will match the success of this year's seniors, but rather that the fututre remains bright notwithstanding the huge losses that the graduation of Ronald, Alex and Edwin will mean to the program.
