I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if Yard stays and gets his grades up we don't need a PG. There are very few PG's left available in 2010 with his talents. I think with more experience Breeden will also be a very capable PG. I liked what he showed yesterday.
The more I read about him..the more I like Josh Turner for the final scholly. They say he can play point as well as SG & SF and at 6-5 his versatility and smarts would seem to indicate a perfect fit for what we need for the last scholly for next year. If Yard leaves he could also play point. He's someone who is long, athletic, great on offense and smart with the ball. He's ranked an 88 by Espn and is ranked as one of the top 20 in New England according to NERR...a few ahead of Basabe. Right now the competition looks be between Siena, Niagara, and URI. Has anyone heard the level of interest Fran has with him? Grades have to be the reason he doesn't have more offers.

Newell seems more like a scoring guard that plays oint for his team. I would love to see a traditional point who can hit the open jumper when needed.A kid that seems to get good write up and is ranked higher than Mel is 6-1 Jordaire Jett from Notre Dame Academy in MA.
Another name is Danny Lwhorn from CT. He originally committed to BC, but they backed off. He seems to want to go to a higher level based on comments I read on sites, but he is not ranked that high. Sounds like he could be good at MAAC level, maybe A-10.
I also like the sounds of the Johnso kid from PA.
If we keep winning, we can probably get a good one since PT will be available right away.

There's still Bryon Allen at PG too. I'm still not sure Fran is strictly going after a PG though as he said "best available player." I think he's just looking for another player who can play any of the 1-3 positions. Bryon Allen would also be good because at 6-3 he has some versatility.

I think Calvin Newell looks to be one of the best players available.

Fran indicated the other night that he is looking at point guards. There are a number that are being evaluated, including Bryon/Byron Allen (I've seen his name both ways, sometimes even in the same story, so I'm not sure which is correct).

Allen is rated very highly by ESPN (90) and recruit recon (4). The little I've read describes him as a combo guard who is developing more PG skills. Sounds like he would be a phenomenal pick up. Perhaps our friend TM can tell us more about him as Allen is currently at St. Thomas More.

I wouldn't automatically assume a player is the best choice because of rankings.Sometimes the rankings are misleading because how many players that were ranked high in high school, are in college struggling against nonranked players. You have to see for yourself and have a eye for talent.I've seen so many top ranked players get killed on the court by certain non ranked players. If you are not in the right place, at the right time, and know the right people, a great player gets under recruited.Thats how a low to mid level college ends up with a diamond in the rough.
Calvin Newell is that the kid from Evelyn Mack Academy?

Tabb is listed as already at that CC in Florida and the article you linked was from '08, so I think he is in his 2nd year that..... so looks like he is ready to come out of the JUCO ranks.....
