How did Clifford look today - I know Siena is looking at him

Struggled a bit today with Nate and Mel, no surprise 2 older high major kids. Fights for postition well, great touch, and a solid athlete. Good hands and is huge. I would go after him before Ackerman. The big negative for me was he wasn't hungry enough for the ball. Mel and Nate really kicked his butt on the glass. He needs to be quicker and ramp up the motor.

Nice to see Mel and the words "high major". Although Siena is a mid-major, we want to see the program become an "high" elite mid-major program.

MTS - Obviously I am bias, just want to get that out the way. I have been around as a player and a coach most of the high level kids from New England in the last 15 years, I think he is proving he could play at that level and he is just 17. He does a couple things at that level, rebound and finish, and may do a couple more by the time he gets on campus.

For those who aren't aware, Clifford was at the TUC for the game against MSM.

Meanwhile, Burdine's team just keeps winning. 21 points for Burdine in Reading's win yesterday. Not exactly sure what level of competition Trenity is playing against (I know its not as high as Mel's competition).

his school produced an adequate PF in Franklin so i would assume the competition is ok.

Reading is a AAAA school in Pennsylvania.

Largest classification for high schools in that state.

Franklin went to Reading Central Catholic, not Reading High School.

Top 200 recruit at Rider, Jermaine Jackson, went to Trenity's high school - is a power forward and in 42 career games with Rider has scored 82 points and committed 86 fouls.

SF - Don't you hate when you're sarcastic about something and then you are found to be in error about the very thing you were sarcastic about? As my 3 year old daughter says, "Oopsie-ghettios!" Don't worry though, I still appreciate the sarcasm nonetheless.

Soup, lets just say I'm happy that Fran has a better recruiting track record then Dempsey.

I know Poole is in a different incoming class than Basabe and Burdine, but perhaps we should use this thread to keep updated on his junior year? Has anybody found any papers/sites that cover Paul VI games?

Tarheel Mel,

Sorry to pick keep picking your brain, but Siena is looking for a center for class of 2011 and 3 of their main targets are from MA: Clifford, Ackerman, and Auguste. They have been recruiting Clifford for awhile and seems like the other 2 have come on the seen with good performances this Fall and Winter. From what I have read, it seems Auguste may have the most "upside" and is more athletic. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Auguste is not a center. A forward, he is probably a legit 6'8". Can shoot the ball well. Plays against awful competition, so when you see his numbers in the newspaper take it with a grain of salt. The kid definitely has some tools and is a good athlete who will only get better as his body catches up. I saw him some this summer but honestly need to see him this coming summer before I make a final eval. Want to see his motor and hoew he does the important things, rebound, defend, finish inside against high level talent. He should be coming over to our school int he sprign, as he is only one town away, to play pickup but I doubt it will happen.

Clifford and Ackerman are similar. Both legit 6'11", both repeated and both are improving. Clifford has a great skill set and IQ. Ackerman plays hard and motor is good. Again need to see them in the spring and how much better they get, and how they fare against top competition. I am afraid neither are athletic enough to play the way Siena want to but you don't find this size at the mid major level often.

The question may be, do you want a 6'6" to 6'8" athletic kid who play with a high motor and can really get after it or a kid with more size and less athletic ability.

Tuesday night Burdine lead his team over a previously unbeaten Wilson Bulldogs...

"* When Trenity Burdine missed a couple of free throws early in the game Tuesday, the Wilson student section was quick to pelt him with chants of "oh-ver ray-ted. "

The Reading High star eventually proved his rep as one of the county's elite players is well-deserved.

He knocked down the go-ahead 3-pointer with seven seconds left to lift the Red Knights to a pulsating 50-47 Berks Conference Division I victory over the previously unbeaten Bulldogs before a packed and raucous crowd at the Geigle. "

Burdine finished with 20 pts, 7 rbs, 2 assists and 4 threes in the 50-47 win.

Forgot to post stats of Milton game for Mel. Was leading scorer with 15. Added up 7 rebounds in a 69-40 win. Team is starting to play better. Mel got in some foul trouble in the first half and didn't play in the last 6 minutes so he probably got those numbers in about 15 minutes.

Poole's team is 5-3 and he's averaging 19. Google the Philadelphia Enquirer, key on high sports, then So. Jersey schools(Paul VI) or go to www.paulVIhs.edu.

Looks like Burdine's been doing fine. Hasn't been shooting much threes. Read that he hit a 60 foot buzzer beater at halftime last night.
