ok, this is very odd...........Siena only got 18 votes this week (1 less than last week), and also dropped 3 spots checking in at 34 even though they continue to win...........go figure!!!!!!!!

Siena 29th in the USA Today/ESPN poll.

The coaches are much smarter.

Yeah, the AP vote is terrible this year. Texas A&M beats Baylor and goes from 0 points to 115? No way is that 1 victory worth that much. Stupid voting like that is what costs mid major teams votes.

While it is true that the Coaches are smarter, in my opinion the AP poll is the most important because it is a measure of public perception. Unfortunately, it's not just about good play. Our PR department should spend less time figuring out ways to drive out fans, and more time getting the word out.

Some further analysis on the AP Poll.

We actually had more writers putting us on their ballot this week than last, just not as high.

Scott Wolf last week had us at 23 and moved us up to 21. + 2 points.
Nick Jezierny had us at 23 up to 22. + 1 point.
Vahe Gregorian had us at 25 up to 23. + 2 points.

Seth Davis had us at 19 and out of the poll. - 7 points.
Elton Alexander had us at 21 and out of the poll. - 5 points.

John Bohnenkamp added us this week at 23. + 3 points.
Jack Bogaczyk, John Feinstein and Michael Rothstein all added us at 25. + 3 points.

19 points last week. +5 for moving up polls. -12 for falling out of polls. + 6 for new additions to polls. End up with 18 points this week.

I'm really curious about Seth Davis' thought process. How do we drop 7 spots on his ballot when we beat the second place team in the league, which was riding an eight game winning streak and still has an RPI of 85, by 20 points? Is the problem a lack of quantity - one win while others had two or three?
Elton Alexander writers for the Cleveland Plain Dealer - maybe it's related to Butler somehow, since Cleveland State is also a Horizon League member.

Yeah that's very strange that Seth dropped us out. He's been our biggest supporter on the national scene for many years. And especially this year with the SI preseason ranking. Weird.

Maybe Seth was hungover from the superbowl and just forgot about us this week. like SM88 said, Seth has pulled for us the last 3 seasons, picking our 1st round wins in each of the last 2 dances. Doesn't make sense for him to leave us off at this point.

You know what, coach is right, F 'em. The system is as screwed up as it is, so if you have any power at all you might as well use it. (That's not what he said, that's what I'm saying). The fact is, three of our losses were away from home against teams in the poll. Who's to say if we played all three of those teams at home we wouldn't have won them all?

As to Seth, he's been leaving us in, dropping us out at will with no rhyme or reason except maybe for timing of articles. I don't care -- he put us in first and helped get us on the map. Keep winning and they can't keep us out, it's as simple as that.
